RCBC Distinctives:

1. Christ Above All

At Rock Creek, Jesus Christ is our greatest treasure, and union with Him is our highest good. Our identity is not in movements, traditions, or methods, but in Him. We seek to grow in our love for Christ, our dependence on Christ, and our unity in Christ. Everything else flows from this: knowing Him, enjoying Him, and making Him known. (Colossians 1:18; Philippians 3:8–10; John 17:21)

2. Lovingly Reformed

We are “Lovingly Reformed,” holding dear the biblical truths central to the Protestant Reformation—such as the Five Solas and the Doctrines of Grace. But we hold these truths with humility and charitability, knowing that theology without love is nothing. We strive to be shaped by both conviction and compassion. (Ephesians 4:15; 2 Timothy 1:13–14; 1 Corinthians 13:2)

3. Expository Preaching

We are committed to expository preaching, believing the whole counsel of God must be taught clearly and faithfully. We preach verse by verse through Scripture, aiming to teach all that Christ commanded. Our worship is reverent yet warm, and our church calendar reflects a simple rhythm that prioritizes God’s Word, prayer, and joyful fellowship. (2 Timothy 4:2; Acts 20:27; Matthew 28:20)

4. Pursuing Holiness Together

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—yet not by a faith that remains alone. True saving faith bears fruit in love for God and a desire to walk in His ways. We pursue holiness not in isolation, but together, encouraging one another as we are conformed to Christ. Through prayer, accountability, correction, and mutual encouragement, we help one another grow in grace as members of one body, walking in the light as He is in the light. (Hebrews 3:12-14, 12:14; Titus 2:11–14; Philippians 2:12–13)

5. Intentional Hospitality

The early church was marked by shared lives, shared tables, and glad generosity. At Rock Creek, hospitality is more than a practice—it’s a way of life we strive to emulate and bring others into it. We seek to open our homes and hearts, welcoming one another as Christ has welcomed us. (Romans 12:13; 1 Peter 4:9; Acts 2:46–47)

6. Gospel Proclamation

Christ’s commission to the Church is clear: make disciples of all nations. We proclaim the gospel boldly and lovingly, whether across the street or across the globe. We support missions, equip our people for evangelism, and pray for the advance of the gospel to the ends of the earth. The Lord has blessed Rock Creek with individuals and families who have gone on to serve in the Great Commission work all over the world. We pray for them regularly and support them in tangible ways. (Matthew 28:18–20; Romans 10:13–15; Acts 1:8)

7. Grace Without Compromise

We believe the gospel offers Christ freely and fully to all who will come—not as a reward for the righteous, but as rescue for the sinner. We reject both legalism and license as grave distortions of the gospel, and we seek to proclaim gospel grace in a way that is truly gracious. At Rock Creek, we want every sinner to know: you may come to Christ just as you are—and He will never leave you to your sin. (Isaiah 55:1; John 6:37; Romans 6:1–2)
